Update

Just a quick head's-up.....Cinema Sweetheart will be taking a short break for a few weeks, with no film reviews posted on June 28, or July 5.  Reviews will resume the following week, on July 12.

Update

Hello, Movie Maniacs, Film Fanatics, and my Cinema Sweeties!

This is just a quick update to let you all know that I'm still alive and writing.  The reason for my lack of posts was the fact that I fell into the dreaded end of the school year arena, and just made it out.  That being said, I didn't really have a lot of time to watch movies, and even less time to review them.  But, that's the end of the bad news.  Now comes the good news!  With my summer free to watch movies and review them again, I'll have plenty of films for you!  I'm watching a movie a night, but I'm not sure if all of them will make it to the review process.  But, even so, there are going to be plenty of reviews shuffling their way into the que.  I'll still be posting them on Thursdays only, though, so that means that I'll still have plenty of reviews built up to go well into the school year.  No time to review movies?  No problem; I've already got plenty of reviews :)  See?  It's going to be great!  That being said, I have just finished my review for the 2008 film Taken, which you can find here this coming Thursday.  I also have reviews in the works for Tommy Boy, The Shining, and Mega Shark Vs. Giant Octopus, so be sure to look for those in the coming weeks :)

I look forward to seeing all of you again on Thursday!  I'm sorry I've been gone for so long, but it's good to be back! :)

Update

I'm going to attempt to resurrect this blog one more time.  If I'm able to do it, expect an update on Thursday as always.  If not, I'm sorry; I just couldn't make it work.

Update

Hello, everyone, and Happy New Year!  I hope all of you had a wonderful holiday.  I'm really excited to bring some new changes to Cinema Sweetheart this year!  To start, Cinema Sweetheart's Film Reviews will no longer be strictly film reviews (with a few other random bits tossed in here and there).  Rather, I'm hoping to expand the website quite a bit more.  Instead, Cinema Sweetheart will include all matter of posts (still every Thursday), including commentary, parodies, some reviews, video clips, some fun behind the scenes bits, and much, much more.  Starting this Thursday, we'll have our first post of 2012.  A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has stuck around with me for the past few months.  I'm really hoping that this little blog continues to live up to your expectations.  Also, if there is anything you want to see, please do not hesitate to tell me, either in the comments on this post or via email at cinema.sweetheart@gmail.com.  I check my emails at least once a week on this account, and will get back to you as soon as I can.  I'd love to hear your opinions on things; this blog is for you just as much (if not more) than it is for me :)

Merry Christmas!

Hello, Film Fanatics!  I hope all of you have a VERY Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year!  I'm hoping to be back after all the holiday festivities are over, with a brand new line up of reviews, movie clips, and more.  Thanks for bearing with me for 2011, and I hope to see all of you in 2012!

Time for an Update....

Hey, guys!  I'm back.  Sorry it's been such a long time.  Even though it's not Thursday, I'll post a movie review to tide y'all over until later this week.  In the meantime, I had a question for you guys: I've noticed that other movie blogs have a lot of different things to offer; not just movie reviews, I mean.  So, I was thinking about adding in little treats randomly as I come across them.  This would include collections of clips for a certain movie or actor, games and parodies related to movies, or just random conversations about things like my top ten horror/romance/comedy/etc. films, or the best films to watch on a rainy day.  I'd also continue to include the weekly reviews on top of that; but it would just be a little something extra (and sometimes, those sorts of things are more fun than the reviews!)

So....what do you think?  If you have any ideas, or liked something I mentioned above, please tell me in the comments!  I'd like to know what you think.  With Christmas break coming up, I'm going to have more time to watch and discuss films, and I would love to have a bit more fun with this blog!  Thanks, guys :)

Sorry

It's been exactly one month since I last posted a review.  Sorry.  I'll be sure to get on that.  I'm afraid I'm just losing my motivation right now.  Honestly, I'm not sure what's wrong with me.  I just don't quite feel myself.  Nothing to get too worried about, I'm sure....but I just don't feel myself.  As Alice suggests in Alice in Wonderland, perhaps I'm someone else.  But then, who am I?

I Return Tomorrow

And I just have a quick question for all of you......

How many of you honestly read Cinema Sweetheart's Film Reviews anymore?  Because, while I'm not sure I'll END the blog, I am considering slowing down, or at least taking myself off of an "every Thursday" posting routine.  That would mean that reviews would be more sparse, and randomly posted.  It's just that I'm starting to lose steam for my review writing, and I feel like no one really reads my blog anyway.  I mean, it's not that big of a deal, but it's a lot of work if no one even cares.

I have enough reviews to get through October and a little bit of November, as of right now.  I will post all of these, but I'm not sure what will happen after that.  I guess that's up to you guys.....

Please let me know how you feel in the comments.  Please be honest; you seriously WON'T hurt my feelings, I promise!

Taking a Short Break....

Hey, guys :)

Just a quick update...first of all, thank you to those few people who actually still read Cinema Sweetheart.  It means a lot to me knowing that someone out there is getting some benefit from this little hobby of mine.  I know there aren't too many of you out there, haha.  (Not that I'm depressed; just that I know my blog is pretty small, and lacks the connections that some of the bigger blogs have).  That being said, I just wanted to let you all know that I'm going to be taking a small break for the month of September.  School's just started up, and quite honestly, I don't have as much time to watch movies as I used to.  So, I'm going to need some time off to get caught up on schoolwork, watch some more films, and write up some reviews.  I hope you guys won't miss me too much, haha.  And, if you want a movie suggestion in the meantime, don't hesitate to email me (cinema.sweetheart@gmail.com).  I'll still be checking my account and emails at least once a week.

Looking forward to seeing you all in October!

Please Poll

Hi, guys!

So, I have a quick poll up on the blog (right hand sidebar) about the characters featured in the new blog header.  The poll will close next Thursday.  I would love to hear you opinions on the characters, so please be sure to respond!

Thanks,
Cinema Sweetheart

A New Header!

Hello, film fanatics!  I just wanted to update you all on some of the goings on of Cinema Sweetheart as of late.  Namely, I've added a new header.  I'm not going to be changing the headers every month anymore (or at least not for a while) because with school starting up again, I know I'm not going to have as much time to devote to the blog, and I'd rather use the time I had to write reviews, rather than play around with pictures.

I think that this new header is going to be pretty fun, though.  All the characters depicted here were personally made by me using an online avatar maker.  They're all movie characters (as I'm sure you guessed), but can you guys tell me who's who?

You can either email me your answers at cinema.sweetheart@gmail.com if you want, or easier yet, you can just leave your answers in the comments.  In about a week, I'm going to post a little poll to see which character was everyone's favorite, so if you want to have a chance to guess before the answers are given, then please make sure to submit your thoughts before the week is out.  When submitting your answers, how about guessing in a clockwise pattern, so that the lady with the big hair and bandages is #1, and the skull-faced man with the music notes is #6?

Best of luck, and I look forward to hearing your guesses :)

More Updates

Hello, everyone!

I've just added a few more updates in the hopes of making Cinema Sweetheart's Film Reviews even better!  First, it's now possible to follow by email!  A Blogger account is no longer necessary! (I honestly don't know why it's taken me this long to add that feature...)  Second, I've added a Search by Genres option to the sidebar, so that you can jump right to the genre you want.  Looking for a Romance?  Just click the tab and you'll be taken to a list of all the movies with the Romance label on them :)  Finally, I've added reaction buttons to the posts.  I've noticed that I've been getting a steady number of visitors, but very few comments.  Now, I love comments like movie-goers like buttered popcorn, so this lack of commentary has been very depressing.  But, it can be tedious to craft out a well-written comment, especially when all you want to say is "I like this".  Well, now you can!  Do you agree with my review?  Disagree?  Want to see this movie?  Have I convinced you otherwise?  Just click the button and tell me!

Thanks everyone!  And if you have any questions, suggestion, etc., please do not hesitate to contact me at cinema.sweetheart@gmail.com!

A Couple More Movies....Coming Never

A huge thanks to Joe Marino, my fellow film critic, who suggested several new fake film trailers to include on Coming.....Never.  So, now, you can see trailers for:

  • The Batman Complex
  • Grayson: Robin and Batman
  • The Legend of Zelda
Thanks, Joe!  Enjoy, everyone :)

NEW: Special Features (Orphan Feast)

A new bonus feature has been added to our online collection!  Have you ever had an overwhelming desire to be like Sweeney Todd, turning people into pies?  Well, now you can!  Play as Creaky Tom, running about 1886 London, capturing orphans and stuffing them in your sack.  Take them back to your lair where they will be made into pie filling.  It's a terrible, crazy game, and frighteningly addictive!  This Sweeney-esque story has a twist, though.  However, you'll have to play it through for a while to find it.

A New Header and a Review

Loyal Readers,

I'm sorry its taken me this long to get a movie review out; honestly, I don't know what's wrong with me lately!  I've just been having trouble writing reviews...But, as promised, I've published a review of O,Brother, Where Art Thou? and I've also updated the blog header to Hello, Dolly!, which I hope you guys like.  I'm hoping to get another review out by the end of the week, although, I'm not quite sure if that's going to happen or not.  If I do, it will most likely be Amélie (2001), starring Audrey Tautou.  I just watched that this weekend, and HAVE to share it with you :)

My Apologies

Loyal film fans,

I'm sorry that it has taken me so long to post a new review!  I've been very busy, and since I like to dedicate the most time possible to writing a review (and do not like to post it if I feel it is not good enough) it sometimes take a while to actually get out something besides General Maintenance.  So, on that note, I just want to give a heads up that the reviews for O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000) and Hair (1979) are currently in the works.  If all goes well, you should see at least one of them before the weekend is out!  Thanks for your patience :)

The Next Poll

Hello, Film Fans :)

As promised (although a bit later than I had hoped), the survey for the May blog header is now online.  It's at the top of the page, right under the header, and for some odd reason, the title of the survey does not show up on the page... :S

All you have to do is select the movie you'd like to see as the blog header for May.  If the movie you wanted is not listed in the poll, then just email it to me as a suggestion or include it as a comment to this post.  PLEASE: Only include movies that have already been reviewed on this blog so far!

Thanks everyone :)

March Blog Theme

Hi, everyone!

Sorry this is a little bit late....I've been very busy, and as a result, have not had the chance to change the blog theme for March.  Today, I was able to put up the header, but still have to put up the character list and the quote for the bottom of the page.  Hopefully, I'll have those up by Monday.  Thanks for being so patient :)

And don't forget; the April blog theme is going to be Hello Dolly. I'll be posting a survey on the blog for anyone who wants to help choose the next header for May.  It won't list all the movies on the blog (even though the first one did), so if you have a particular movie that you want to have featured (please only select from the ones I have reviewed), you can either email it me at cinema.sweetheart@gmail.com or add it as a comment to this post. Either way, I'll be sure to include it on the poll.  This should also be up by Monday, so please get your suggestions in quickly.  N.B. I will not be reusing blog themes at this time, so please do not ask for blog themes from The Phantom of the Paradise (1974) or Ace of Hearts (1921).
